Drug Abuse by Bangladeshi Workers
Individuals seeking jobs abroad need health fitness certificates before entering into those countries. Medical screening of 43,213 Bangladeshi job seekers (M/F: 42,290/923) was carried out in our reference center during the period August, 1994 to May, 1996. Albeit male predominance, they represented middle and lower middle socio-economic class of the population from all over the country. All we...
متن کاملGenetic architecture of Hsp90-dependent drug resistance.
Hsp90 potentiates the evolution of azole resistance in the model yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and the opportunistic pathogen Candida albicans via calcineurin. Here, we explored effectors downstream of calcineurin regulating this Hsp90-dependent trait. Using S. cerevisiae erg3 mutants as a model, we determined that both Crz1 and Hph1 modulate azole resistance.
متن کاملThe Genetic Architecture of Arsenic Metabolism Efficiency:A SNP-Based Heritability Study of Bangladeshi Adults.
BACKGROUND Consumption of arsenic-contaminated drinking water adversely affects health. There is interindividual variation in arsenic metabolism efficiency, partially due to genetic variation in the arsenic methyltransferase (AS3MT) gene region. OBJECTIVES The goal of this study was to assess the overall contribution of genetic factors to variation in arsenic metabolism efficiency, as measure...
متن کاملRisk factors of multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis in Bangladeshi population: a case control study.
Despite success in tuberculosis control, multi-drug resistant tuberculosis in Bangladesh is increasing and currently multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis rate is 3.6% in new cases and 19% in re-treatment cases. This study focused on determination of multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis which is warranted for effective prevention strategy. An unmatched case control study was conducted in 2010. Purposi...
متن کاملRenin Gene Polymorphisms in Bangladeshi Hypertensive Population
OBJECTIVE Linkages of renin gene polymorphisms with hypertension have been implicated in several populations with contrasting results. Present study aims to assess the pattern of renin gene polymorphisms in Bangladeshi hypertensive individuals. METHODOLOGY Introns 1, 9 of renin gene and 4063 bases upstream of promoter sequence of renin gene were amplified from the genomic DNA of the total 124...
